Less-Crowded National Parks
It’s summer, and the most popular US national parks are either crowded or overcrowded.
It’s now time to possibly avoid Yellowstone, Yosemite or the Smoky Mountains and celebrate America’s least-visited national parks.
Alaska is home to five of the 15 least visited parks, places like the Gates of the Arctic National Park, with no roads, no campsites and no cell servicecomma but an amazing wilderness destination with six designated wild rivers.
Then there’s Isle Royale National Park in Michigan — an isolated archipelago in Lake Superior — with 165 miles of trails.
You’ll find 300 glaciers at North Cascades National Park in Washington. And 70 miles west of Key Westcomma Florida is Dry Tortugas National Parkcomma with fewer crowds, open water and amazing topography.
