Whenever I travel, I like to catch up on my reading and there are now a number of great apps and services designed for you to listen to — audiobooks.

Audible is perhaps the best known app. It costs about $8 a month but you have unlimited access to more than 10,000 audiobooks.

Apple Books and Google Play books don’t require a subscription. You buy the books and it can be pricier.

But one service is truly cost-effective and free. Libby lets library card holders borrow audio and e-books from your local branch. And about 90% of the public libraries in the U.S. participate in the program.
