Business and Convention Hotels: Plan Ahead

In the hotel business, the one sector hurting the most is business and convention hotels.

But as meetings are starting to come back,  many of these hotels are not being transparent and disclosing the continued lack of services but they’re still attempting to charge regular room rates.

At a recent Chicago convention, the host hotel didn’t inform guests there was no laundry or dry cleaning, no room service or restaurants open, and that housekeeping only arrived once every four days (the average convention-goer stay is three nights).

If you’re planning to attend a meeting or convention in the next 12 months, make sure you have a conversation with the hotels to determine what they are not providing, and then ask them to adjust their rate accordingly.
