First there’s bad news: airlines continue to hold more than $10 billion in refund money owed to passengers whose flights were cancelled during the pandemic.
The airlines did give out credit vouchers for future flights. But have those vouchers expired? In some cases, the major airlines have now extended those validity dates.
Delta has now extended vouchers from tickets that were purchased before April 17, 2020 until the end of 2022.
JetBlue’s “travel bank credits” issued last March have been extended two more years.
Southwest vouchers provided between March 1, 2020 to September 7, 2020 are valid up until September 7, 2022.
United tickets purchased between May 1, 2019 and March 31, 2021 are available for use through March 31, 2022.
But with so many flights now being full, plan ahead and book a few months in advance.
