The Essentials

Largest Stadiums in the World

As more and more people get vaccinated, events defined by large social gatherings will slowly start to happen.

Of course, there will be attendance caps at first. So if you’re looking for the largest numbers of people, look for the largest capacity stadiums and arenas in the world. And where are they?

Three of the five largest are in the United States.

Ohio Stadium is number five. It’s home of the Ohio State Buckeyes and can hold 102,780 guests.

Next up is Beaver Stadium in Pennsylvania, where 106,572 people can watch the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Coming in at number three is Michigan Stadium. It’s the largest in the United States. And it can hold up to 107,601 fans.

The second largest stadium in the world is Sardar Patel Stadium in India, which seats 110,000. It’s the largest cricket stadium in the world.

And as for the location of the world’s largest arena, it might come as a surprise. It’s North Korea. The Rungrado May Day Stadium in Pyongyang has an official seating capacity of 150,000. But there’s no social distancing there. The North Koreans always fill the place for military parades.
