What Happens if You Break Quarantine Rules?

It’s one thing to be allowed into a country during COVID-19. But if it has a quarantine rule, you’d better follow it.

One Vietnamese flight attendant broke quarantine rules and received a two year jail sentence.

A 20-year-old American was sentenced to over a month in prison after she broke quarantine rules in the Cayman Islands.

And in Australia, a woman was sentenced to six months in jail just for breaking quarantine guidelines and traveling between states in that country.

And earlier this year, a Taiwanese man was fined the equivalent of $35,000 for breaking quarantine in Taiwan.

The good news is that more and more of us are getting vaccinated. But that doesn’t mean that most quarantine rules have been relaxed, and the penalties can be severe.
