Airline Food Being Sold in Supermarkets

Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who actually miss airline food.

And some airlines are filling that need — on the ground.

Finnair has started selling its business class meals at local grocery stores around the Helsinki Airport. The meals retail for around 12 Euros and have been a hit. The stores sold more than 1,600 meals within the first few days. Meals available include Asian and Nordic cuisines. And in case you’re interested, it includes beef with teriyaki-radish sauce served with grilled spring onion and rice, smoked Arctic char with chanterelle risotto, and wait for it…reindeer meatballs.

And Finnair is not the only airline doing this. Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways also have their food available in supermarkets.

And the peanut provider that United Airlines use has also started selling its airline peanuts online, while Qatar Airlines recently sold 1,000 bar carts stocked with alcohol.
