The Essentials

New Travel Rules — COVID-19 Tests for Overseas Travel to U.S.

There are now new travel rules in place. Anyone flying to the United States from overseas — and that also includes Americans, must show a valid negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours before taking their flight, or they won’t be allowed entry into America.

A number of hotels around the world, ranging from the Turks and Caicos in the Caribbean to Turkey to Mexico, have pivoted quickly and are now offering guests those required COVID-19 PCR tests so that they can return home on schedule.

And Palace Resorts and Le Blanc Resorts in Mexico went a step further. They are now offering guests a free COVID-19 PCR test if they’re traveling to the U.S.

If a guest tests positive, the hotel will then cover the total cost of quarantine (along with a companion for up to 14 days, should both guests test positive).

This certainly takes the worry out of traveling there in the first place, and more hotels around the world are expected to follow suit.
