Eye on Travel

Eye on Travel — January 16, 2021

This week, Eye on Travel broadcasts from Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun, in the state of Quintana Roo in Mexico. But Peter’s focus in the first hour is to acknowledge a special anniversary this week, and a sad anniversary next month. Jeff Skiles, Airline Pilot and Sully Sullenberger’s Co-Pilot of US Airways Flight 1549, on airline safety, not as it pertains to the “Miracle on the Hudson” flight, but to discuss the continuing air safety problems that still exist. And one flight in particular — the February 12, 2009 crash of Continental Connection Flight 3407 near Buffalo, New York. What lessons were learned, and what was applied. And the remarkable story of Scott Maurer, who lost his daughter Lorin in the crash and then put 150 family members of other victims of the crash together to lobby for much needed safety improvements. Later in the show, Zach Griff from The Points Guy, talks about all things 737 MAX and the brave new travel world of COVID-19 vaccines. The airline pilot Greg Morris reports about his own experience in the air with unruly passenger behavior surrounding the U.S. Capitol and what airlines and the FAA are now doing about it. And, as always, Peter answers your questions. There’s all this and more as Eye on Travel broadcasts from the Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun, Quintana Roo in Mexico.
