Some Destinations & Activities With Weight Restrictions Around the World

The coronavirus quarantine has many people not only locked in their homes but also locked on their couches, and for many of them, this has subsequently adding more than a few pounds to their waistlines.

But be careful for when we’re ready to travel again, because some activities and destinations around the world have new weight restrictions.

Gondoliers in Venice have had to reduce the maximum passenger capacity of their boats as they claim tourists weigh too much.

Some other new rules spell a sigh of relief for the donkeys in Santorini as those wishing to ride them must weigh less than 220 pounds, or one-fifth of the donkey’s body weight.

Here in the U.S., many horseback tour operators have a rule that no rider can be over 200 to 250 pounds, depending on the horse.

And one hotel in Germany has banned guests who weigh over 130 kilograms — that’s 286 pounds. That happened because one portly traveler broke one of the resort’s beds.
