If you’re a student of the traditional laws of supply and demand, you might suspect that when we emerge from the coronavirus crisis, that hotels will simply offer massive discounts to lure travelers back. But that’s not necessarily true.

Many hotels might actually use their loyalty programs — their frequent stay/points operations — as a way to get you back.

It’s also a way for the hotels to keep their published room rates at a higher level.

So instead of looking for a rash of hotel discounts when we start traveling again, look for great deals on frequent stay points and other perks through the hotel loyalty programs.

And the deals may also allow you to redeem your points, often at lower point levels.
