How Much Money Is Made By the Flight You’re On

Do you ever wonder how much money is made by the airline you’re flying on the flight you’re flying? Some of the numbers are impressive, if not staggering.

Recently, the Dallas morning news did the research.

Six times a week, Qantas flies an Airbus 380 nonstop from Texas to Australia, and that route brings the airline $628,000 per flight or about $428 million a year.

Additional data from the official airline guide also indicates that on average, the Dallas to London flight on American brings in $173,000 every time the plane takes off.

And the most frequent flights on American from Dallas —  from DFW to Los Angeles — bring in $328 million a year. And although the airlines won’t admit it, the flights that earn them the most money are less likely to be delayed or canceled. Go figure.
