Here’s a number that might surprise you.
Every time travelers are told to empty all their pockets before going through security, that doesn’t necessarily mean they remember to put everything back when they clear security — and in particular — they are leaving behind money.
Between October 2017 and last September, airline passengers left nearly $1 million in unclaimed currency.
So where does all that money go?
Does it go to charity? The answer is no. The TSA claims the agency uses it for training more officers.
