The Most Endangered Historic Places

This year, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has released a list of America’s 11 most endangered historic places, and some of them might surprise you.

The Bismarck Mandan Rail Bridge, located in North Dakota, made the list this year. Constructed in 1883, it is now being considered for demolition.

The Excelsior Club, an African American private social club that opened in 1944 in North Carolina, is also on the list.

Nashville’s music row is also facing the threat of the wrecking ball.

Even the National Mall’s Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. is in danger due to rising sea levels and decaying infrastructure. To find out what you can do to help save these historic destinations the next time you travel go to savingplaces.org.
