The Essentials

Which States Have the Happiest People?

When you think of the happiest place, which state comes to mind?

If you’re thinking somewhere sunny, you’d be correct. According to a study done by the personal finance site wallethub.com, the number one happiest place to live is Hawaii.

The site measured 31 separate metrics, including sleep rate, physical exercise, and work environment to determine the happiest place to live.

Following Hawaii, the next happiest states are Utah, Minnesota, North Dakota, and California.

What about the top five unhappiest states? The number one ranked is West Virginia, which also ranks poorly for the lowest adequate sleep rate and overall work environment.  It’s followed by Arkansas, Louisiana, Alaska, and Oklahoma. For all my friends in those states, cheer up! And get more sleep.
