Just when you thought the cruise industry couldn’t get any bigger, get ready for even more ships.

Since 2012, cruising has experienced an unprecedented 30% rise in demand. As a result, 24 new ships will set sail this year with even more to launch next year.

Royal Caribbean’s Spectrum of the Seas with more than 4,200 passengers will sail to and through Asia. Norwegian Encore with nearly 4,000 passengers will have Caribbean and Bermuda itineraries.

The good news is that all this new capacity means that ships that are less than five years old will most likely be discounting cabins as the rush begins to book inaugural seasons on the new ships.
