Travel Tip: What People Really Want On Long-Haul Flights

What do you look for in a long-haul flight? Great food and wine? Comfortable seats?

According to one recent airline survey, most Americans—89%—say no to cellular phone service on flights.

However, 73% of Indian travelers and 70% of Chinese fliers said that they want in-flight phone service. Unless the airlines install soundproof on-board phone booths on their planes—and don’t count on that— I think we’re safe from passengers yelling into their smartphones at 37,000 feet.

Other results from the survey include 96% of us want friendly staff, and that’s a no-brainer. Who doesn’t?

And 93% of us want wider seats, another non-surprise.

But only 77% of us think on-board WiFi is important. That number will most certainly go up when we want to text our friends on our next flight about the lack of wider seats.
