Some people love trains. I’m one of them. But I really love train stations. And many of them around the world are worthy destinations in and of themselves.

In the U.S., there’s Union Station in Washington, D.C. Check out the ceiling and 24 karat gold.

The Western Concourse at London’s King’s Cross Station is dominated by a 52-meter wide steel palm tree. Talk about making a statement!

Then check out the station in Antwerp. It’s a tribute to Belgium King Leopold with more than 20 varieties of stone and marble. Then, check out the food at that station. The Belgiums have long mastered the art of chocolate followed by french fries and many varieties of beer.

The train station in Madrid boosts its own botanical garden and turtle sanctuary with more than 7,000 plants.

You don’t have to take the train, but be sure not to miss the stations.
