If you’re a chocolate lover, you probably know that some of the world’s best chocolate is produced in places like Belgium, Switzerland, France, Mexico, London—and of course, the United States.
But there are also some pretty surprising places where you wouldn’t expect to find artisinal chocolatiers.
In Ras al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates, you’ll find hand crafted Swiss chocolate with a Middle Eastern flair, by adding camel milk.
The Museo del Chocolate in Havana is more of a restaurant than a museum, but it’s also a chocolate factory supplying locals and visitors with some of Cuba’s best chocolates and truffles.
And in Bangkok, Thailand at Chocolab, you have your choice–you can watch the chocolate being made in the laboratory, you can try out its mid-afternoon all-you-can-eat “cocoa rush hour” or you can take a chocolate making class and bring some goodies home with you. But of course there’s nothing stopping you from doing all three.
