Travel Tip: The International Toilet Tourism Awards

Saskatchewan Science Centre

Here is the news I just know you’ve been waiting for. The International Toilet Tourism Awards were just announced.

For the second year, an international research firm presents the awards for the toilets–ranging from best design, best location, quirkiest experience and others.

Best design went to the Saskatchewan Science Centre in Canada, because restrooms were inspired by local forests and come complete with woodland sounds.

The best location went to the Hotel La Jolla in California. It sits on the 11th floor overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

And for the quirkiest experience, you’ve got to travel to Lucas, Kansas, an art capital of the state. That’s where you’ll find Bowl Plaza–the entire building is shaped like a toilet bowl. The entrance is a raised toilet lid, and the sidewalk leading up to it flows with a large toilet paper roll of concrete.
