Travel Tip: Pet Insurance

If you’re an animal lover and you also love to travel, your pet becomes a special consideration–especially in terms of care and liability when you travel.

More and more people are now buying pet insurance, and a number of companies are beginning to provide it as an employee benefit.

Organizations ranging from the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) to private insurance companies are now offering pet plans, which can include everything from preventive care to even behavioral therapy.

How much does it cost? Plans range from an average of $15 a month for cats and $25 a month for dogs.

Like other insurance policies for humans, most plans won’t cover your pet for pre-existing conditions, and deductibles range from zero to $1,000. On some plans, you even get credits for the number of years without claims.
