For years, Sarah Dandashy of Ask A Concierge drove by the Cabazon Dinosaurs. If you’ve ever driven to or from Palm Springs on the 10 freeway, you’ve likely passed them as well. On a recent road trip, she got a closer look at this popular stop.
Hands down, the Cabazon Dinosaurs are the ultimate roadside attraction. Two larger-than-life dinosaurs tower over the I-10 freeway, their silhouettes seen for miles. After finally making a point to check them out, up close and personal, I finally understand what all the fuss is about.
Mr. Rex and Diny are the main attractions, but there’s much more. A ticket to Mr. Rex’s Dinosaur Adventure takes you through an exhibit of over 50 dinosaurs, complete with a dinosaur dig, fossil panning, and (my favorite) a chance to climb inside Mr. Rex… all the way up to his mouth.
Head inside Dinny’s gift shop for souvenirs, dino-inspired merchandise, and a chance to ride a dinosaur. Don’t forget, these guys are practically movie stars, as they’ve been featured in several films and on TV. Something about the whole experience feels like a time warp. Maybe it’s the music or the desert heat or the fact that you are standing in a place that seems a bit like Land of The Lost. The next time you’re visiting Palm Springs, get transported into a crazy little dino-world.
It is open seven days a week. Costs are $12 for adults and $10 for children three and up.
