Travel Tip: Frequent Stay Hotel Programs Remain Competitive

With airline frequent flyer awards becoming much harder to earn and redeem, hotel frequent stay programs are still remaining competitive.

Hyatt recently revamped its program, and you can now earn five points for every dollar spent.

The best part? You can redeem those points for a free stay with no blackout dates.

InterContinental, which has 12 different brands, also awards free nights with no blackout dates.

You can also redeem your points for flights on more than 400 airlines.

The folks at Kimpton have kept its program simple.

Forget about accumulating points. You get a free night after you stay 20 nights.

Marriott, which bought Starwood last year, rolls out its new program next year.

But you can bet there will probably be no blackout dates.

Its program already offers an app that lets you check in and check out, which means no standing in line.
