Are you getting ready for ski season?

Do you want to avoid the crowds?

Consider some ski mountains you’ve never heard of.

How about Schweitzer, Idaho?

It may not be as high as other mountains in the area, but it gets just as much snow.

You may not have heard of Mt. Rose, Nevada, but it’s only 20 miles from Reno and you won’t find lines for the ski lift.

Then there’s Powder Mountain in Utah, Burke in Vermont, and Stevens Pass in Washington.

All of these are less crowded, and much more affordable locations.

In Colorado, check out the Arapahoe Basin.

There’s nothing flashy there, but it’s good, basic skiing.

Also, head to Mammoth, California in May and June to ski.

In some years, the skiing has continued until July.

Looking for year-round skiing in the U.S.?

Here’s a surprise: check out Timberline Lodge in Oregon.
