Peter Greenberg Worldwide—French Lick Resort, French Lick, Indiana—April 23, 2016

french lick2This week, the Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show broadcasts from a surprising and interesting location: French Lick, Indiana. If you’re an NBA fan, it’s probably on your radar as the home town of the legendary Larry Bird. For those who haven’t heard of it, one reason to go is the 161-year-old French Lick Resort and the West Baden Springs Hotel, which is where the Radio Show is broadcasting.

Joining Peter Greenberg from this truly historic hotel will be Scott McCartney from The Wall Street Journal with an update on plans to finally redo LaGuardia Airport. Mike Rae, CEO of Tourism Cares, talks about his nonprofit group and the opportunities to travel to destinations that need help, encouraging hands-on opportunities to give back. In particular, there is the Nepal Cares program—one year after the earthquake and there is so much work that still needs to be done. The time to go and help is now. Then we’ll talk about the long history of golf at French Lick dating back to 1907.

Is the hotel haunted? Sandi Woodward from Indiana Landmarks has a theory or two; so does Lin Wagner of the West Baden Museum, who shares stories of the celebrities in the 1930s and 1940s who came to French Lick and may still be walking the halls. Then there’s the story of the hotel’s restoration—a truly remarkable project. There’s all of that and more when the Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show broadcasts from the French Lick Resort in French Lick, Indiana.
