Peter Greenberg Worldwide—Queen Steamboat Company, New Orleans, Louisiana—March 19, 2016
This week, the Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show is on the water as we broadcast from the American Queen river boat on the Mississippi River, en route from Memphis to New Orleans. Joining Peter on this real paddle wheeling steamboat will be Scott McCartney, Travel Editor of The Wall Street Journal, with a report on airlines adding extra seats to their planes. George Hobica of Airfarewatchdog will also join us to discuss the changing seating configurations on planes, particularly on long haul flights. Jerry Hay, the American Queen‘s Riverlorian, explains how historians stick to the truth, but riverlorians tell great tales (some of them tall). Some of the truths of the Mississippi are still stranger than fiction, with pirates, robbers, and of course, the legendary exploits (and the derivation of the name) of Mark Twain. Additionally, Melinda Morris from The Times-Picayune shares information about some of New Orleans’ jazz fest secrets. American Queen Captain Brent Willits talks about what’s changed on the river—as well as what has never changed. There’s all of that and more as the Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show broadcasts from the American Queen Steamboat Company, aboard the American Queen river boat, as it moves down the mighty Mississippi.
