Travel Tip: Airlines Help Track Your Checked Luggage
If you’re like me, you’ve come to believe there are two kinds of airline bags—carry on and lost.
Airlines now claim to have a better delivery percentage, to get your checked bags there on time.
One of the reasons is because when the airlines started charging for checked luggage, fewer people checked them.
That translated to fewer damaged bags or delays for the airlines.
But now, for those of you still checking bags, there’s some better news.
Two airlines have tracking systems to allow you to see exactly where your bags are at all times, from the moment you check in until you arrive at baggage claim.
American Airlines has added that system to its website.
Bags are now scanned by the airline at six different checkpoints between check in and baggage claim.
Delta Air Lines also has a similar system.
At least with this system, you won’t get to your destination to wait for bags that won’t arrive.
You’ll know before you get there that the bags haven’t arrived…and that’s how we define progress.
