Peter Greenberg Worldwide—The Knickerbocker Hotel, New York City, New York—April 04, 2015

Locations in this article:  New York City, NY

the knickHoused in a Times Square building erected in 1906 by the legendary John Jacob Astor, The Knickerbocker Hotel reopened its doors this year as a totally new, renovated, and restored hotel. With almost 100 years of history, this location has gone through a series of changes—from a hotel to housing Newsweek (where Peter used to work), and back to a hotel.

Peter talks with pilot Patrick Smith (author of Cockpit Confidential) about the latest disturbing reports coming in from the tragic Germanwings murder-suicide. What does this mean for pilot training and pilot oversight?

Travel Weekly‘s Arnie Weissmann also joins us to talk about the expansion of luxury hotels in New York as well as the multiple impacts of the shared economy. Then, New York Historian Elizabeth Bradley depicts the history of The Knickerbocker and how the building has evolved over the last 100 years. Plus, National Geographic’s Annie Fitzsimmons talks about the newest hotel trends (and yes, The Knickerbocker has one)…the rooftop bar. There’s all of this and more when this week’s episode of Peter Greenberg Worldwide broadcasts from The Knickerbocker Hotel in New York City.
