Travel Tip: What You Need In A Winter Emergency Kit

cars in snowNow that we’re in the thick of winter, it’s critical to have a winter emergency kit stashed in the back of your car.

Here are some items that are essential if you get stuck or stranded on the road.

In addition to the standard winter gear like a windshield scraper and tire chains, bring along a small shovel, just in case you need to dig out of snow.

A bag of salt, sand, or even kitty litter will also come in handy if you need extra traction.

Pack a small flashlight and a portable radio, and extra batteries for both.

If you haven’t already, now is the time to get a phone charger for your car. There’s nothing worse than being stranded with a dead phone

Non-perishable food and water are no-brainers, just make sure you replenish the water supply every few months.

For real emergency situations, always have a portable first aid kit and flares on hand.

Also, don’t procrastinate filling up on fuel. Always keep the tank at least half full, just in case the drive takes longer than anticipated.
