give_kids_the_worldPlanning a family visit to Universal Orlando Resort and want to make your trip even more special? Why not augment the experience with volunteer work? Universal Orlando Resort has put together a voluntourism package with Give Kids The World Village. Check out the program below and remember to tune into Peter Greenberg Worldwide this weekend for more information. Plus, don’t forget to check out our archive for all kinds of voluntourism opportunities.

Universal Orlando Resort works closely with Give Kids The World Village to create a package for families who want to give back while they travel. Give Kids The World Village has built a 70-acre non-profit vacation spot for children and families who are facing life-threatening illnesses.

The village relies on its volunteers to help with resort services, entertainment, and special projects. There are as many as 1,200 volunteer shifts a week.

With the Universal package, every family picks a volunteer option that lasts four hours. The options include helping out with character photos, preparing to-go breakfast packages, or serving breakfast at the Gingerbread House. Volunteers over 16 can work at the La-Ti-Da-Spa, where they help out with makeovers, paint nails, style hair, and do children’s makeup.

The vacation /volunteer package starts at $589 per adult and includes a 3-night accommodation, park passes for two days (with a third day for free), a volunteer day at the Give Kids The World Village, and an one-hour early park admission to The Wizard World of Harry Potter. Universal Orlando Resort also donates $100 to Give Kids The World for every vacation package sold.
