Twice a year, there’s one place Peter recommends to find a great cruise experience…and those are called repositioning cruises.

These cruises take place during very limited windows: spring and fall. That’s when the cruise lines are literally moved to their summer or winter homes for the season. These are one-way sailings and the routes are much different than the normal season. So it turns into a pretty cool cruising experience. When it comes to repositioning cruises 2014 you have a lot of options.

Royal Caribbean has one coming up this April that sails from Colon, Panama straight to Fort Lauderdale, starting at $134 a person.

On Princess, there’s a cruise from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale. Sounds pretty straightforward, right? Well, to get there, you stop in Cartagena, Colombia, cross the Panama Canal, and go into Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Mexico. Pretty cool, and you still only have to book a domestic flight.

And Disney has a really exotic one coming up this May: Leave from Port Canaveral Florida—spend a lot of time at sea, which I love, and then end up in Madeira, Malaga and Barcelona.
