Mission Ridge Ski Resort, Washington

Mission Ridge opened the weekend after Thanksgiving, but is operating on just Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until December 14. After that the mountain will operate Thursday to Monday every week until the end of the season. The upper parts of this tall mountain are in really good condition while lower parts have been supported by snowmakers. There’s a 31 inch base at the top and 23 inches midway.

The Learn to Ski in Three package offers three lessons, three passes, and three days of equipment rental for $99. After December 24 the price increases to $150. Mission Ridge anticipates all four chair lifts to be operational starting Saturday December 8. Call 509-663-6543.

Squaw Valley, California

Currently, nine of 14 trails are open on the upper mountain, but only five of 16 trails are open on the lower mountain. At 8200 feet, there is approximately 46 inches of snow. While all the trails have groomed packed powder, conditions lately have been rainy.

The Stay and Ski Free package is available at the Village at Squaw Valley. A two-night stay at $89 per person per night guarantees lift ticket fees are waived through December 20. For booking call 800-731-8021.

If you’re in the area a $30 special for new skiers (ages 13 and up) runs December 8 and 9 only. Otherwise two adult one day lift tickets and a nights stay at the Squaw Valley Village costs $71 per person, per night. Plus, stay two nights and get one night free with discounted lift tickets.

Big Sky, Montana

Right now, Big Sky is seeing great ski conditions. With several snowstorms and 1,378 acres open so far, base depth is 25 inches with 6-12 inches of new snow. The terrain is powder, machine groomed. Big Sky is known for short lines so you might not even have to avoid peak season.

If you are looking for a ski deal right now, the Early Bird special lets you stay in select locations for three nights near Big Sky from now until December 21 for 50 percent off. To book, go online or call 800-548-4486.
