Hidden Gems: Australia–Wild Tasmania

Looking to find a Hidden Gem of Australia? Sometimes you need to bypass the major cities of Sydney and Melbourne and travel to where Australians actually visit–down south to Tasmania.

Tasmania is one of the world’s largest islands, but it is also one of the least known and the least visited. It’s a little over 150 miles from mainland Australia, but once you’re there you are in for a rare surprise with 40 percent of the island protected as national parks and reserves.

Watch the latest installment of Hidden Gems: Australia to see how you can hike, quad bike and explore the mountains, beaches and rare wildlife of wild Tasmania.

And if you’re looking for more unexpected adventures, join Peter on Twitter (@PeterSGreenberg) on Wednesday, September 5 at 3:30pm ET/12:30pm PT for a Twitter party all about his recent shoot in Australia and his expert advice on building a better bucket list. Follow along with #BetterBucketList. The best part? You can win one of 5 Australia-inspired prize baskets.

Check back next Friday for a new Hidden Gems adventure in Australia and watch part one and two: Sydney Icons Behind the Scenes and Australia Seaplane Adventures
