One of the reasons Mormonism was able to spread so rapidly throughout the world was their use of the printing press. The Crandall Historical Printing Museum details how the printing press was vital to Mormon evangelism efforts and displays one of two exact replicas of the acorn press, the press that was used to produce the first Book of Mormon. Through live reenactments, museum docents share about the printing of the Book of Mormon as they demonstrate the printing of its first 16 pages, as well as the sewing and binding of its leather cover. The museum is open from 9 am to 2 pm on weekdays and costs $3 per person.

Regardless of one’s literary ambitions, most everyone can agree Brigham Young University’s main library is a wonder of the cultivated world. The library consistently ranks in The Princeton Review’s Top Ten University Libraries and held the top spot in 2004. Inside, travelers will find the BYU Family History Library, the largest branch of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. The most impressive feature about the building itself is the its multistoried glass atrium. The entrance way provides astounding views of the surrounding campus and the Rocky Mountains in the background. The library also houses four first-edition copies of The Book of Mormon. Library hours are 7:00 a.m. until midnight on Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to midnight on Saturday.
