Travel Tip: Baseball Spring Training Travel

Listen up, baseball fans. 2012 spring training is just around the corner. So here’s what you need to know to start planning.

Each year, 15 teams warm up for the season in the Grapefruit League in Florida, while the other 15 teams train in Arizona’s Cactus League.

The season begins in early March, and tickets are on sale as of now. What I love about spring training is that you get the Major League Baseball experience for a fraction of the price of the regular season. We’re talking Yankees tickets for $7, the Braves for $13, and the Mariners for about $15.

Planning your own spring training vacation is as easy as buying tickets and showing up. Both the Grapefruit League and Cactus League have their own ticketing sites. Or just check out the Major League Baseball site where they’ve even got an app to buy tickets on the go.

You can also arrange a package deal with third-party brokers like Spring Training USA or Jay Buckley Baseball Tours. These tours could include hotel, tickets, and even special opportunities to meet your favorite players and coaches.
