Travel Tip: Winter Olympic Sport Complexes

The next Winter Olympics is not until 2014, but before then you can vicariously live out Olympic dreams at some of this country’s finest winter sport complexes.

Have you wanted to feel the power of a 5 G-force wind? Utah Olympic Park is open to the public all winter long. Visitors there can ride the full length of the 2002 Olympic bobsled track. Don’t worry about taking to the track alone, a pilot does the driving, accelerating the sled up to 80 MPH.

If you’re looking to hit the ice, you can wiz around the outdoor ice oval in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the epicenter of U.S. Speed Skating. At Pettit National Ice Center, you glide across the rink where Olympic greats got their start.

Not an athlete, but want to get in on the Olympic action? Both Utah and Lake Placid parks have free admission, so you can watch the Olympians train.
