If you thought airport VIP lounges were just for high-mileage frequent fliers, think again.
Traditionally, airline-affiliated lounges are reserved for first and business-class passengers or those who willing to pay $50 or more for a day pass. Now there are a handful of lounges that aren’t affiliated with airlines and are open to the public…sort of.
At Baltimore’s BWI, a day pass for the Airspace Lounge starts at $17.50.
In the international terminal at LAX, you can head to the reLAX lounge. A day pass still costs $50, but there are shorter increments for a lower price.
In parts of the UK, Servisair operates lounges that are independent of the airlines.
Of course, there’s Priority Pass, which gets you access to lounges for a membership fee. But you have to travel pretty frequently to make it worthwhile.
Now these options are great if you need a comfortable place to work or read. But if you’re just looking to kill time at the airport, you might want to take the same money and sit down at a restaurant.
