Travel Tip: Art-Inspired Educational Travel

Locations in this article:  New York City, NY

If you want to unleash your inner artist, what better way hone your skills than with an art-inspired travel experience?

Want to learn how to take travel photos like a pro?

The School of the International Center of Photography takes students on the road for hands-on workshops.

The next one will take place in New Mexico, where an instructor will lead photography excursions of Taos and surrounding villages.

Or how about interacting with working artists? In an initiative called Summer Open Studios, several artists-in-residence programs are opening their doors to the public, so you can actually see artists at work.

For example, in Salina, Kansas, the Art Center’s Warehouse will open its doors in June and July. And just outside of New York City, The Art Students League opens every fourth Friday to host workshops and exhibitions.

Or get an intensive experience by joining a museum-led tour.

Smithsonian Expeditions has a seven-night fall foliage cruise of the Hudson River, where a curator leads you through museums, mansions and collections that have inspired artists for generations.
