A major winter storm is causing hundreds of flights to be canceled across the upper Midwest on Monday.
At Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) alone, Delta canceled around 700 flights on Sunday and other airlines have reduced the number of flights out of Minneapolis-St. Paul today.
Though all four runways are currently open at MSP, airport officials expect they will have to close all but one runway by the end of the day.
Detroit’s Metro Wayne County airport also saw a wave of cancellations as winter storms bore down on Motown.
Commuters in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin are also canceling their travel plans, as officials are urging people to stay off the roads and not risk icy, windy weather conditions.
The National Weather Service estimated that up to 13 inches of snow fell on the Twin Cities on Sunday and more than a foot of snow fell in central Wisconsin.
