Travel Tip: Literary Vacation Rentals

If you’re a literary buff, it’s always fun to get some insight into lives of the world’s great writers. But what if you could also LIVE like one of those writers?


Naulakha is the name of the Vermont home that Rudyard Kipling designed for himself. Not only can you sit at the desk where he wrote The Jungle Book; you and seven of your closest friends can actually rent the property.

If you’re a fan of Henry David Thoreau, head to his hometown of Concord, Massachusetts. Sure can visit his birth house, but what you really want to do is stay at the historic Colonial Inn. Thoreau lived here as well, and today it’s a bed and breakfast, complete with a suite dedicated to him.
