It’s no secret that some hotels and resorts are tacking on more and more fees.

These days, there’s everything from a “resort fee” to use the swimming pool or tennis courts, to mandatory tips for everyone from the maid to the bellman.

But there is something you can do to fight back.

The most important thing to do is to know your rights. If a fee isn’t disclosed when you check in (NOT when you check out), it’s not your responsibility to pay it.
