Travel Vacations For Recovering Addicts

If you’re a recovering alcoholic or drug abuser, travel can present certain challenges. But there are precautions that you can take to keep yourself on track.

One of the oldest companies in the business, Sober Vacations International, takes over an entire Club Med resort once a year.

Sober Vacations also plans shorter trips throughout the year in places like Grand Canyon and Park City, Utah.

A Florida-based company called Sober Celebrations offers group cruises with others in recovery.

All cruises are anonymous, and include group meetings, meetings for friends and families, and guest speakers.

Worldwide Sober Adventures specializes in trips to destinations such as Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Even if you’re not traveling with a sober group, there are still measures you can take.

Before you go, talk to your sponsor or support group, and make a list of meetings that are close to your destination.

And as for that minibar, that’s an easy one—just call ahead and ask them to clean it out.
