In your travels you may have come across something called a city entertainment book, which usually costs at least $25 and promises thousands of dollars of savings in coupons. Are they worth it?

Well, there’s no doubt about the fact that they look impressive.

The New York City book, for example, is more than 380 pages with an estimated $16,000 in savings in restaurants, attractions and stores.

Of course, like any coupon or discount, they’re only worth it if you use it.

So how easy are they to use?

The big drawback is that these books aren’t usually well organized geographically.

So if you happen to be in one neighborhood, it might be hard to find a coupon for that area.

But there’s another useful option for travelers: You can sign up on Entertainment.com for about $30 a year and get printable discounts in all 150 markets in North America.

But there’s that big caveat again—if you don’t use them, it’s not going to be worth it.
