Quick Tips for Speeding Through Airport Security

No one likes having to wait in long lines at airport security, but it’s even worse if you’re the one holding up the line. Here’s how to avoid being THAT guy…

Dress wisely before you ever leave the house.

That means undress: no belt, just slip-on shoes, no clothing with lots of metal buckles and snaps. Hey men: don’t put all your personal junk in your pockets.

Put your cell phone, keys and change in your carry-on bag. Have your ID and boarding pass in your hand at all times, not in your purse or bag.

And parents: remove your children from strollers and collapse those strollers before you ever step in line.

Once you reach the front of the line, there’s actually a particular order to put items on the conveyor belt that will help you get through faster: put your shoes and coat in the bin and send them through.

Second, there’s your carry-on bag.

And last, put your purse through.

This is the most efficient way to do it because when you get to the other side you can put your clothes back on while waiting for the other items to be scanned.

And that way, no one grab your purse or wallet while you’re busy putting on your shoes.
