Special Winery Activities

Come harvest season in the fall, you can do a whole lot more at wineries than just taste the wine – you can actually get involved with making it.

At the Fantesca Estate and Winery in Napa Valley the annual hands-on harvest in October allows guests to spend the day as a wine-maker.

That’s right, you’re gonna pick sort, taste and blend the grapes, and after a morning of hard work you get to sit down for a gourmet harvest lunch.

The cost? $175 per person, but it’s worth it.

Up in Washington state, Olympic Cellars Winery welcomes in the harvest with an annual grape stomp contest, where 10 teams compete to stomp the most juice out of vats of grapes.

Be sure to wear really old clothing you never want to see again for the rest of your life.

At the Grey Horse Vineyard in northwest Oregon, no matter what the season you can get involved with any phase of the grape-growing process from pruning the vines, to harvesting pinot noir grapes in the fall.
