Donating Used Luggage

If you’re like a lot of us, your luggage gets beaten up every time you travel. But instead of throwing out your old luggage, why not put it to good use instead?

There’s an organization called Suitcases for Kids that donates bags to foster children.

It was started in 1995 by a 10-year-old girl who realized that most foster kids, who move an average of seven times during their childhood, often move with black plastic garbage bags.

But you’re not limited to just foster agencies to donate your used luggage – battered women’s shelters, homeless shelters, even the Red Cross need them too.

Let’s not forget that after Hurricane Katrina, people were being relocated and moved their stuff using—what else—garbage bags.

So check with your luggage company to see what organizations they’re involved with.

One company, Eagle Creek, has even offered $25 rebates if you donate your used bags.
