Farm to Table Restaurants

You see the words “organic” and “farm raised” all over menus these days, but how do you know which restaurants are really using the freshest ingredients?

How about ones that have gardens in their backyard?

Ingredients at a growing number of restaurants are located just outside the kitchen door.

The Herbfarm restaurant in Fall City, Washington features fresh produce, and small growers and producers provide wild mushrooms, heritage fruits, handmade cheeses, and unusual items such as water-grown wasabi root and artisanal caviars.

Rancho La Puerta, a fitness spa in Del Mar, California, has a 6-acre organic farm that serves the culinary needs of the resort and its restaurant. Guests can pick their own produce and take a cooking lesson.

The Ryland Inn in Whitehouse, New Jersey uses produce that comes from a three-acre organic garden with has 150 herbs, 95 kinds of lettuce, 120 other vegetables, and two dozen fruits.
