Travel Tip: How Travel is Changing After the Brexit

In the wake of the Brexit vote, airfares to many locations around the world have dropped significantly.
Add recent terrorism fears and the overall strength of the U.S. dollar against foreign currencies, and you have the makings of a strong buyer’s market.
However, even with lower fares, that doesn’t mean travelers are rushing to book overseas.
Revenues have dropped dramatically.
In at least one case, it has resulted in route cancellations.
La Compagnie, a boutique all-business class airline, has suspended its route from the UK to Newark—just 16 months after launching.
However, the airline is keeping its route from Paris to New York.
Passengers who were booked to travel after September will get a full refund.
The bottom line: while the fallout from the Brexit and the power of the U.S. dollar has lowered the fares, remember to pay for your travel purchases with a credit card.
Why is this important? There may be additional service cuts from other airlines.
That way, you’re protected in the event your flight doesn’t operate, or the airline cancels the route entirely.
