Radio Guest List—Congress Hall in Cape May, New Jersey—May 28, 2016

congressThis week, the Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show broadcasts from the iconic Congress Hall in Cape May, New Jersey. Nicknamed “the President’s playground,” Cape May often played host to U.S. Presidents looking for some summer vacation, and Congress Hall, America’s oldest seaside resort, was no exception. Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, Ulysses S. Grant, and Benjamin Harrison all paid visits to the hotel, the latter making it his “summer White House” as electricity was being installed in the White House in Washington, D.C. Cape May Historian Tom Carroll joins us on the program to share some of the lesser-known stories of Cape May, including how the community came together to save 600 Victorian buildings. Travel Editor Joe Brancatelli discusses the continuing incompetence of the TSA, and Curtis Bashaw, owner of Congress Hall, drops by to discuss the community’s long-held traditions, and how Congress Hall continues that legacy today. There’s all of that and more when the Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show broadcasts from Congress Hall in Cape May, New Jersey.
