Travel Tip: How International Airfare is Becoming More Affordable

Locations in this article:  Berlin, Germany Dallas, TX London, England Los Angeles, CA Orlando, FL Oslo, Norway San Francisco, CA

wowairThere’s been an interesting development in terms of domestic and international airline routes.

It’s now often easier and less expensive to fly from Boston to Babcock than Boston to New York.

Even a flight from Orlando to Oslo is cheaper than a flight from Orlando to Cincinnati.

Why? As U.S. airlines shrink domestic capacity and concentrate on international routes from key hubs where they think they can make more money, a number of low cost foreign carriers are targeting medium-sized U.S. cities for cut rate, non-stop long haul service.

This summer, Air Berlin will fly from Dallas to Germany.

Icelandic airline WOW Air is offering $99 fares from Los Angeles to Iceland.

From there, you can fly to other European destinations.

2016 is quickly shaping up as the year to plan your international trips.

That Memphis to San Francisco flight may be priced out of the market this year, but Oakland to London? The price is just right.
